The main beauty of the breed is its luxurious glossy coat. These dogs need much grooming to keep the coat in a good conditions and prevent mats. Heavy shedding makes this breed impossible to keep indoors for fastidious housekeepers. These dogs are susceptible to hot spots, which may be allergic reactions to fleas or food or hormonal imbalance.

This breed has a long, dense coat that sheds heavily twice a year, so some people cannot keep such dogs. Another problem associated with the breed is that it’s rather large and very active; it requires much room in the yard to run and play. If you prefer to watch TV instead of going for a walk and exercising your dog, this breed is not for you. It cannot be kept outdoors in a kennel, because it needs plenty of human attention and becomes unhappy and destructive, when left alone.
